146 YEARS

(HF right of “locomotive,” which was expressly granted to French men by the Constitution of *1791, has—exactly 146 years later been granted to French

women.

By a regulation made in 1828, it was decreed that passports might not be issued to the marri ́ed women of France without the consent of their husbands, and the regulation was confirmed by the Prefect of Police în 1916.
