BRITISH AGAIN ATTACKED Plane Rakes Western Outposts With Machine Gum LEWIS-GUN FIRE IN REPLY GAINS HITS
Shanghai, To-day.
Another Japanese attack on British troops oc- curred in the early hours of this morning when a Japanese plane swooped low over British outposts in the western defence sector and raked the posi- tions with machine-gun fire.
The British troops holding the post, which is situated near Jessfield Park, replied with Lewis gun fire and are believed to have registered hits on the machine, which flew off.
The attack took place at 6 o'clock, when crowds of panic stricken Chinese civilians from the surrounding country tried to cross into the western district.
There were no British casualties. Reuter.
