TENNIS HOPES SCARE
London, September 15. One of Britain's most promising young tennis stars, left-handed F. L Piercey, was full extended in his second match against K. H. Fisher in the Cumberland Club tourname yesterday.
Piercey, who won 4-6, 6-d 6-3, drove with severity, but there was not much variation about his game, and Fisher frequently forced him to make mistakes by a change of pace and length. In the end it was Piercey's persistent net attack that got home.

Miss Hoahing took a lead of 5 but lapsed unaccountably when sacri ficing two match-points. She paid dearly for the mistakes, as Miss Saunders, rallying splendidly, was soon level at five-all.
Miss Hoshing had lost her opportunity. Miss Saunders went on to snatch the lead at 65, and then she, too, lost two match points. She was, however, playing too strengly for her young opponent at this vital stage of the match and ran out a worthy winner by taking the final set at 97.
