MIDDLESEX REFUSE TO PLAY THEIR LEAGUE FIXTURES ON ANY SUNDAYS
ૉ
SOUTH CHINA "A" " WILL PLAY THEIR MATCH TO-DAY
(By "OUTSIDE LEFT")
A protest by the Middlesex Regiment against playing their League foot- ball fixtures on Sundays, has resulted in several changes for this week-end and the postponement of one First Division encounter. It ap- pears that the Middlesex consider Sunday their only off-day and refuse to utilise such for the playing of League matches. As a result, their encoun- ter against South China "A" will be played to-day, instead of to-morrow, while the Club v. South China "B" match scheduled for to-day has been postponed.
WE ALL REALISE THAT CLUBS DEPEND UPON GATES FOR THEIR MAINTENANCE, BUT, I PERSONALLY CANNOT AGREE TO THE ARRANGEMENT OF INCONVENIENCING THE CLUB AND SOUTH CHINA “B” FOR THE SAKE OF THE MIDDLESEX REGIMENT THEY WERE NOTIFIED IN THE FIRST PLACE OF SUNDAY FIXTURES AND AT THE TIME MADE NO PROTEST!

South China are only likely to make one change from last Sunday's combination, Wong Wing, for many seasons their outstanding custodian, replacing Wong Wah-gay between the sticks. Lee Tin-sang and Mak Shin-hon make an ideal couple in the full-back division, while Leung Wing-chiu's transfer to the centre- half berth has considerably streng- thened the intermediate line. Leung is the ideal "policeman" for Pearson, the Middlesex leader, who will find his path strewn with thorns.
Lee Tin-sang is an excellent defender with his head and in this department seriously of the game he will be challenged by Pearson's brilliant headwork, which has given than one custodian an attack of nerves before now.

THEIR SECOND WIN With South China's attack in 2 well-oiled condition, nothing should prevent them from recording their second win of the season this after- noon. Next Monday afternoon South China “A” will celebrate the Double Tenth (October 10) by entertaining Eastern at Caroline Hill and should. secure another pair of points.
The only other encounter in the first division this afternoon which should produce good soccer is that between St. Joseph's and 'Eastern! at Causeway Bay, where the Saints are fielding a very powerful side. Marques' presence in goal has consi- derably strengthened the defence while Bowen's blundering, but use- ful spoiling, should also play an im- portant in to-day's match. Costa, the left-back, can be relied upon to! carry his share of the burden con- fidently.

KWONG WAH'S BIG TEST
2
For the first time in many years the Second Division Football en- counter between the Hong Kong Football Club and the Kowloon Football Club promises to be an in- teresting and well-contested game, though Kowloon appear to have slightly the better side.
With a larger number of players at their disposal, Kowloon are now able to field a strong side. It is in- teresting to note that there is only one Service player in the side and several First Division players will be seen in the side.
S. Souza, former St. Joseph's First Division full-back, will make his debut for Kowloon and
d will be partnered by Abbas, who was one of their outstanding players last sea- son. The intermediate line wil in- clude Maxwell and Silva, formerly of Recreio. Silva was the Recreio First Division full-back last year.
SOUND ATTACK
G. White will lead the forward, and will have Betts and Bulpin es his inside-men, while the Kowloon Club have two fast wingers in Ul- rich and W. Knox.
