FEATURES of the First Round Gutierrez Shield International Bowls matches on Sunday were the unexpected defeats of Portugal and Malaya by Scotland and the Philippines, respectively, and the splendid show which China put up against India, who had to go all out when the "locals” pulled up to within three shots of them.
FORTUNATELY THE INDIANS HAD SOMETHING IN RE- SERVE AND WITH A RALLY IN THE REMAINING HEADS THEY GAINED A FURTHER SEVEN SHOTS TO WIN EVEN TEALLY BY 10 SHOTS. JIMMY WONG, AT NUMBER ONE AND J. PAU, THE SKIP, BOTH PLAYED VERY WELL " LATTER SHOWING UP QUITE WELL AGAINST HIS MO BRILLIANT OPPONENT, UM. OMAR.
