Henry Cotton, making a first pub lic appearance since his triumph in the Open Championship, and his defeat of Densmore Shate, the American, in a 72 hole match, was beaten 3 and 2 by Alfred Padgham at Crowborough (Sussex) yester- day. Their last meeting was at Sun- dridge Park, a year ago, Padgham won by 7 and 5 over 36 holes.
