AMERICA AND HOOVER BOMB ATTACK INCIDENT

PLEASED BY CHINA'S

QUICK ACCEPTANCE

OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Chinese Government's profound regret for the bombing of the President Hoover was ex- pressed to the Secretary for State, Mr. Cordell Bull, by the Chinese Ambassador, Dr. C. T. Wang, yester- day.

Dr. Wang said the Chinese Government assum- ed responsibility for the accident and was ready to make immediate redress.

-Asked at a press conference later whether China's apology was con- sidered satisfactory by the United States Government, Mr Hull de clined to comment, but added that! the United States deeply appreciat- ed the promptness with which China accepted responsibility for bombing of the liner.

The head of the Chinese Govern- ment, he said, took special interest

British and American officials are reported to be considering a plan to protect their ships by strong naval convoys, which would fire on any plane at- tempting to bomb.
