GREAT AT EIGHTEEN

John Bromwich Very Colourful

an analysis of John Bromwich's game as seen by

I waiter in "American Lawn Tennis," high tribute is paid

to his skill and possibilities.

"Whenever John Bromwich is on the courts at Forest Hills there is a buzz of conversation and argument as to just what he is and how he hits the ball.

"Some say he is ambidextrous, others that he is right- handed, still others that he is left-handed: some say his two-fisted shot is a forehand, others a backhand.

"In deliv

two-fisted shot Bromwich keeps his left hand in its accustomed place on the racket and adds the right hand to it, practically interlocking the two-like a golfer.

"Although it looks like a two-fisted backhand, the tre nendous power he gets into the stroke undoubtedly comes from his right arm and wrist. The backswing is short, as the follow-through, but there is great punch in the shot. wich not only has steadiness, but also iety of depth. He is undoubtedly great player
