VINES-PERRY-VON CRAMM- PROS. AND AMATEURS
Sydney, July 22.
A few weeks back, just before the Davis Cup mat ches began, Donald Budge, wrote for the "Lawn Tennis Annual (issued by Mr. S. W. Mer- rihew) a ranking list of the world's players, pro- fessional or amateur. Budge's list is: Vines, Perry, von Cramm, Nusslein, Tilden, Quist, Austin, Craw ford, Allison, and Lott.
As to the first two, we see that Budge's list is just abe rect on the results, but “a tie” would look better. Here amateur comes in, and Budge, of course, does not discuss place. At that time the German would gain the place a Budge, from most critics, but to-day Budge comes first.
