Logan setting up a new mark of 704-5 sec. for the men's 100 yards backstroke compared with the previous record of 72 2-5 sec. held by Noel Hammond, while A. J. Gavriloff was clocked at 2 min. 30 1-5 sec for the men's 220 yards free style, well below the old mark 20 Yards Junior Boys-1, J. of 2 min. 32 4-5 sec.

Miss Vera Dodd got away to the best start in the 50-yards women's breast stroke and soon established a good lead. Swimming strongly she had a margin of five yards at the finish. Miss Chow Sou-ling and Miss A. Dudley had a thrilling struggle for second place, the Chinese girl coming up well at the end to take the place by the narrowest of margins. Miss Dodd's win this year is appro- priate in that she was the runner up last year.
