Above is a map of the scene of the recent clash between So- viet and Japanese forces on the Manchurian border, which carried with it possibilities of a grave crisis as the incident climaxed a ser- ies of similar outbreaks over territorial disputes. This map shows the location of the two clashes which occurred at Blagovestchensk and Khabarovsk on the Amur River.
Authorisation To Be Sought From Congress

It is officially announced that the Navy De- partment will ask Congress during its next session for funds to build two battleships and two light cruisers.
The object is to build up to the limit of the old London Naval Treaty and then to follow a pro- gramme of replacement as vessels become over age. - The new battleships, as well as two others, con- struction of which was authorised during this ses sion of Congress, are replacing four of the oldest of the seven battleships classified as over age.
