Roosevelt Scheme Whittled Away By Senate

The last nail was driven into the coffin of Pre- sident Roosevelt's Supreme Court Enlargement Bill yesterday when the Senate voted, by 70 votes to 20, in favour of returning the Bill to the judiciary committee with instructions to prepare a new mea-
sure.
The vote in the Senate was preceded by a dra- matic meeting of the judiciary committee, at which the Vice-President, Mr. John Nance Garner, con- ceded that the Supreme Court Bill was "out of the window."
