Sir, The generous action of Mr. D. Elliot Alves in presenting Bar- rie's birthplace to the nation has served to crystallise a thought that has been present in the minds of many during the past two weeks, namely, that some Barrie should be raised. That this should take the form of furthering the welfare of children needs no argument.

Tin Mine At Leghorn

A new tin mine was opened Leghorn yesterday in the presence of several Cabinet Ministers.
