The Eden plan's proposal recognition of belligerent rights in Spain

Mr. Eden, in reply, reminded Major Attlee of the circumstances in which the British Government were entrusted with an interna- tional mandate to seek an agree ment on a solution of the present difficulties and said there could be no question of any modification of the proposals submitted at the committee's c direct request and which the committee itself had not yet considered.
He was sure the House would not wish to jeopardise in advance the cause of international appease- ment that the proposals had been designed to further,
