One of the biggest surprises the Lawn Bowls Pairs championship occurred yesterday on the Service Club green when A. Brook- sbank and J. Howells beat W. Mac- farlane and A. Hyde Lay by 20 shots to 17, in a game which was featur- ed by excellent play by all.

LAST Saturday's Lawn Bowls League matches finished up pretty well as expected, with the possible exception of the defeat of the Kowloon Bowling Green Club, against the Happy Valley Footballers. The Champions took a full team to the K.C.C. and thanks to a smashing win by Omar day and Macgowan assured him-st E. Tuck and L. Whant, when the against Jack, won quite handsomely. The other self of his place by a good all-round two rinks were just about level, but Jimmy Jack display in which heavy ones were could make nothing of his more renowned oppon- ent and losing a four at the first head, had to play an ever losing game all the way through to finish 23 shots to the bad.
HIS RINK WERE OUTPLAYED AS THE SCORE ́IN- DICATES, AND EVERY MAN IN OMAR'S TEAM DID HIS STUFF. FRANK GOODWIN WAS AGAIN IN VERY GOOD FORM AND HIS VICTORY OVER BASA WAS FULLY DE- SERVED. HE HELD A HANDSOME LEAD UNTIL TEA-TIME WHEN A ROT SET IN, BASA GETTING TWO FOURS AND A TWO TO FINISH UP WITH A MINORITY OF FIVE, AFTER BEING 13 IN ARREARS AT THE FINISH OF THE 16TH END. BRADBURY AND FINCHER HAD AN EVEN CLOSER RESULT, THE FORMER WINNING BY FOUR SHOTS AFTER A NECK AND NECK GAME IN WHICH BOTH SKIPS SHOWED UP WELL.
The Kowloon Dock team's visit to the Police Club ended in a debacle, the home team losing by 49 shots, with Cooper having a huge win against Mair, who seems to have struck a very bad patch! It has been pointed out to me that his opponents have scored 93 shots against him in the last three games.
I understand that Perkins has mumm been promoted to skip, an hon- our which also falls to Shepherd, who regularly occupied the posi- tion before he went on leave.
The whole of the Dock rink play- ed as well as the score indicated, | K.C.C. with Calman, as lead, playing an uncanny game to lay a solid C.C.C. foundation.

H. K. F. C.'S GOOD WIN The Football Club scored a use ful win by beating the K.B.G.C. by four shots after a ding-dong strug- gle. All three rinks had close re- sults, Guy being the only visiting skip to win, which he did by five shots against Jack Rodger. The home lead and second man, Howell and Gill were usually having the better of their opponents, and it was left to Armstrong and Guy to save the situation most of the time: The former played a really bril- liant game and his skip was hardly less in the limelight. The fact that both Haynes and Rodger were in form makes the visitors' win all the
