SIX DOUBLE-HEADERS FEATURED
TALL SCORING IN U.S.
BASEBALL CARD
“DIZZY” DEAN IN LIMELIGHT
New York, To-day.
Six double-headers, four in the National League and two in the American League, featured yesterday's baseball programme, "Dizzy" Dean, the Cardinals' star pitcher, heralding his return to the team after a recent suspension, by blanking the Braves in the second half of their double-header, for the St. Louis nine to win by a nose.
Cincinnatti Reds and New York Giants shared the spoils in their double-header, the former winning the first round, Riggs clout- ing two home runs, but the New Yorkers won the second half in spite of two home runs by Kampouris and Hafey, for Cincinnatti.
The Dodgers caused a minor up- set in winning both matches against
the Pirates, Phelps clouting a four- BRITISH
bagger for the winners in their second encounter.
TALL SCORING
Tall scoring featured the double- header between the Cubs and the Phillies, five home runs being clout- ed in the first clash, Herman, Col- lins and Odea, for Chicago, and Camilli and Atwood, for Philadel- phia. The Phillies levelled the result in the second clash, Whitney and Klein striking four-baggers to help nose out their rivals.
