Soviet Leader's Suicide

Moscow, To-day.

M. Garnarnick, Assistant Com- missar of Defence and Chief of the Political Education in the Red Army, yesterday committed suicide, according to a brief communique, which adds that Garnarnick was connected with anti-Soviet elements.--Reuter.

Another grave outbreak of Hindu-Moslem hos- tility has already caused more than thirty casual- ties, including one killed. The death and many of the casualties occurred when the police were com- pelled to fire upon a huge crowd of demonstrators. DR. H. H. KUNG The communal tension which is still serious LEAVES ROME started in the Kamatipura area of the city, which was the storm centre of the serious rioting of last October.

THE TROUBLE SPREAD TO OTHER LOCALITIES SO RAPIDLY THAT THE POLICE DESPITE HEAVY REINFORCE- MENTS FOUND THEMSELVES HARD-PRESSED TO COPE WITH THE SITUATION.

Cause of the trouble, as far as can be ascertained, was an inci- dent connected with a Hindu marriage procession. It was passing a Mosque when a Mos- lem youth stepped forward and demanded the cessation of the music.

The demand was complied with, but the youth became involved in

an

altercation with spectators, which led to a general fracas in which three were seriously injured. The police intervened and quickly dispersed the crowd, but later there were many stabbing assaults
