H. G. WELLS AND LOW
Wisdom About Life"
Mr. H Wells, when he opened an exhibition of cartoons by Low at the London Gallery, Cork-street, paid the cartoonist glowing tribute.
"I should like to say something about his extraordinary wisdom about life," he said. "He makes you laugh, and 3 you are apt to for- get that he is an extraordinarily wise man.
"Low is only half-way through this career. I doubt if he - bas- reached his zenith. What he shows you here is not the whole product of Low. Behind there is other work.
"I happen to know that he has been experimenting with colour, and it is significant that he does not. show you anything of it to-day. One of the most significant enter- prises you have in the world of art is the proper use of colour.
"The human being is overloaded' with it, and most of us spend a b.great proportion of our time trying to disregard it. I think Low is go- Opening ing to give us something very in-
