In a low-scoring match at Derby, the Champions defeated Kent by 82 runs. Securing a lead of 139 runs on the first innings, Derbyshire, in their second knock, were dismissed by Watt (6 for 34) for only 88. The Kent batsmen proved unequal. to the occasion, however, and could only total 145.
