Casualty Toll Still In Doubt
Such was the terrible nature of the Dojima Maru explosion disaster at Queen's Pier yesterday evening that to-day after a lapse of fourteen hours, it was still impossible to provide a completely accur- ate summary of the casualties.
Forty-four Japanese were on board the Dojima Maru at the time of the explosion. Of these,
Sixteen are dead.
Seventeen are in hospital, and
Eleven are missing, feared dead.

It has, as yet, been impossible to ascertain the names of the victims. This afternoon, when a thorough search has been made, relatives of those on board the launch last night will endeavour to identify bodies and those in hospital, after which an official list will be issued.
