CORONATION GALA WAS GREAT
SUCCESS ALL-ROUND
CHINESE WILL REGAIN THEIR
BREAST-STROKE TITLE
(By "CRAWL")
DO not think that anyone will disagree with me when I state that the most successful sporting function seen over the Coronation festivities was the International Swimming Gala held under the auspices of the Victoria Recreation Club last Saturday night to commemorate the Coronation, when several budding Colony champions were seen in action.
Among the outstanding performances of the evening, China claimed three in securing first places in the 100 yards free-style, 'through Norman Lee, the 100 yards breast- stroke, through Ng Kam-to, and the 100 Yards back-stroke through Ng Lin. Lee came very near to shattering Noel Hammond's Interport mark for the 100 yards free-style, and was very unfor- tunate to strike the ropes halfway back in his final length. As it was he was only two-fifths of a second outside of Wilfred Law- rence's best local time. I think that Lee will offer a very strong challenge for the sprint events in the coming championships.

LAST MINUTE CHANGES
Great Britain were most unfor- tunate in having to make several changes in their Free Style relay team, but owing to several last minute unavoidable circumstances] there was no other course open to them. Anslow, one of their fastest men over the 50 yards, was down with laryngitis.
