By order of the Nanking Gov- ernment the fiscal year of the government henceforth will run. from January 1 to December 31, like any calendar year, instead of from July 1 to June 30, as in the past.

Sir Archibald Sinclair, leader of the Opposition Liberals, speaking at Brad- ford declared that the Government's policy of economic Imperialism had re- sulted in insolvency, impoverishment and distress in the world, which had found expression in Fascism, Hitlerism and the race în armaments.

It was not surprising, he continued, that in consequence of such a policy, Italy should take Abyssinia, and that Germany should prepare to break the ring which held the economic life of her people in a vice.
