JACK PETERSEN, the former British Empire
heavy-weight champion, who announced yes- terday that he was retiring on account of eye trouble, was given a great reception when he made his final appearance in the ring here to-night.

It was late in the evening when Petersen appeared. He was received with deafening cheers. The announcer then confirmed the statement that this would be his last appearancë, adding that it was the order of his specialist, and not his own personal desire at all.
