"SUNDAY HERALD" INTERNATIONAL
CHARITY CUP SOCCER FINAL
INDIAN R.C. HOLD THEIR ATHLETICS
MATHEMATICS TOO DIFFICULT !
MINU COMES LAST
'BUT WINS
The sixth annual athletic meeting, of the Indian Recrea- tion Club, held yesterday after- noon, when a programme com- prising mostly of novelty events was featured.
The Mathematical Problem Races had to be abandoned as the competitors found their tasks a trifle difficult.
One of the most amusing events was the Obstacle race in which, although he was the last to reach the tape, A. K. Minu was awarded first prize, the other competitors being disqualified for failing to crawl under the tarpaulin.
Before calling upon Mrs. A. G. Suffiad to distribute the prizes, Mr. A. el Arculli, the President, said that the year for the Club had been very successful. The - Club had tied with the Hong Kong Cricket Club in the First Division, and in the Tennis Championships, the Club had also been successful. He hoped that the Rumjahn cousins would succeed in the Open Doubles.

IRELAND SECURE FIRST VICTORY STEVENS, FERGUSON AND MOORE IN LIMELIGHT BLAKE'S MAGNIFICENT PLAY (By "REFEREE")
A
VERY small crowd was present at Caroline Hill yesterday to witness the final of the "Sunday Herald" International Charity Cup Com- petition, when Ireland secured a well deserved victory over England by 3 goals to 1 in a fast encounter, featured by the dominating display of the Irish attack. England never looked like win- ining and this was probably due to the inability of
their forwards to combine.

THERE WERE SEVERAL DISAPPOINTING FEATURES, AMONG THESE BEING THE DISPLAY OF LAND, AT INSIDE RIGHT, WHO WAS HOPELESSLY OUT OF HIS CLASS, AND OF BLISS, AT CENTRE-HALF. ENGLAND'S HALVES WORKED VERY HARD THROUGHOUT THE GAME, BUT THEIR DIS- TRIBUTION WAS POOR IN THE EXTREME, AND NEITHER FOWLER NOR BICKFORD RECEIVED THE SUPPORT THEY WERE ENTITLED. ONE OF THE MOST PLEASING FEATURES 1 OF THE GAME, HOWEVER, WAS A MAGNIFICENT PER- FORMANCE BY BLAKE, WHO WAS VERY UNLUCKY NOT TO HAVE SCORED ON THREE OCCASIONS.

Pickering was always there when wanted, and although he slowed up the game considerably by aimless clearances into touch, he made a ideal partner for Stevens.
Connor, în goal, was rarely troubled and dealt confidently with all manner of shots. Gal- braith, in the centre half posi- tion, worked very hard and his P. W. D. L. F. A. Pts. through-passes to Moore, Killen
