(SPECIAL TO “CHINA_MAIL”)
Berlin, To-day.
Young Germany in South-West Africa has sent its own reply to the decree of the Union Gov- ernment prohibiting political activities on the part of foreign organisations in the mandated territory.
THE REPLY TAKES THE FORM OF A DECLARATION MADE BY 600 GERMAN YOUTHS, NATIVES OF SOUTH-WEST AFRICA, WHO ARE AT PRESENT UNDERGOING A COURSE OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN GERMANY, AND WHO HAVE FORMED THEMSELVES INTO A “NATIONAL GROUP FOR SOUTH-WEST AFRICA” AND HAVE INDICATED THEIR AD- HERENCE TO THE FOREIGN ORGANISATION OF THE NAZI PARTY.

TO-DAY'S TENNIS POSTPONED
"We have never sought to in-TALENTAILLEULIRA terfere in the domestic affairs of South Africans, and never intend doing so, because as Nazis we know how to respect those things that other people deem to be of supreme concern to them," runs the declaration. "But we
also expect in all justice that those things which we hold to be of high import- ance to our race should like- wise be respected.

"My real task, however," he add- ed, is just about to begin.”
It was a question, he said, not of preparing a conference but of gathering data for a conference.
NO RENUNCIATIONS
The declaration then goes on to say that the toil and industry of the German settlers developed South-West Africa, that young Ger- mans are eagerly prepared to co- operate in harmony with other parts of the population to benefit the country but that they will never renounce their race.
It was not intended to call an economic conference at present since the Belgian Premier had no inten- tion of undertaking anything in this direction until the groundwork had tend a big national rally to be held The 600 young Germans will at- been thoroughly prepared by gatherin Saxony from May 15 to May 17. ing all essential facts and figures.Trans-Ocean, -Trans-Ocean.

SHANGHAI STRIKE DEL VAYO
ENDS
But Taxi-Drivers
Still Out
Shanghai, To-day. After being paralysed for five days, Shanghai's tramway system în the International Settlement re- turned to life when the strikers re- sumed work this morning.
The agreement followed when the company accepted modified demands on the part of the men.
Meanwhile the strike of drivers employed by the Ford Hire Service, the largest taxi-cab concern in the city, continues but will probably be settled to-day.
Seventy of the company's cars, which had been "kidnapped" by the strikers, have been driven back to the various depots by the strikers.
