ANOTHER JUNK PIRACY

CARGO OF ORE AND WOLFRAM SEIZED

A minor case of piracy occurred in Hong Kong waters in the early hours of Monday morning when pirates boarded a junk near Tang Mung Island and escaped with loot valued at $1,516.

..

Victim of the raid was Hon Muk, 29-year-old master of junk No. 101V. His boat was boarded by five men, two of whom were armed with revolvers, at 4 a.m. off Tak Hon Point, near Tung Lung Island.

The suddenness of the attack took the master and crew by sur- prise and everyone on board was forced into the hold, where they were tied up.

Taking their time, the pirates systematically looted the junk, which was carrying a cargo of Chinese copper money and wolfram

ore.

÷

With loot worth $1,516, the pir- ates made good their escape. First intimation of the piracy was given this morning when the junk's own- er reported the matter to Police Headquarters.

STRONG BID FOR AGREEMENT

Sugar Conference Discussions

London, To-day. Replies hitherto made to the negotiating committee of the Inter- national Sugar Conference show that the delegations are unanimous- in desiring conclusion of an equit-- able arrangement.

Several delegations offered spe- cial concessions designed to facili- tate application of the agreement during the year 1937/1938, but the committee is still dealing with re- servations by other nations, not-
