The straight by-election fight between the Pre- mier, M. Paul van Zeeland, and the Rexist leader, M. Leon Degrelle, resulted yesterday in overwhelm- ing defeat for Belgium's Fascist leader.

EVERY ELEGIBLE ELECTOR HAD TO VOTE BUT THERE WERE 18,358 BLANK OR SPOILED PAPERS, WHICH WAS LESS THAN AT THE LAST GENERAL ELECTION, AND THE YOUTHFUL FASCIST LEADER THUS RECEIVED ONLY 19.05 PER CENT. OF THE VOTES CAST.
