DERBYSHIRE CRICKET

RECRUIT

Derbyshire, English county eric-. ket champions, have added Clifford Gladwin, a 20-year-old all-rounder from Clapwell Colliery, to their nursery staff.

Gladwin, who is over six feet tall, bowls right arm medium fast, and is a good batsman. He is a son of a former Derbyshire player who assisted the county as a fast medium bowler in 1914 and 1919.

SHARK IN SWIMMING

Sydney, February 18. Shark! This cry is " alarming enough when heard in the surf, bat swimmers were thunder- struck to hear the cry go out in Rose Bay Baths last week.

It was discovered that a small shark was swimming in the POOL ITSELF Arthur Besomo, State swimming champión, among the "patrons" who helped to land the uninvited guest in a hand net.
