PENNINGTON EQUALS OXFORD RECORD

COVERS 100 YARDS IN 10 O SECONDS

DARK BLUES' HURDLING STRENGTH

AL

(By BEVIL RUDD)

London, March 8.

LAN PENNINGTON, the O.U.A.C. secretary, again equalled the Oxford 100 yards record on Saturday, when he won his heat in the sports in 10sec. There is every likelihood of his beating this in the final this afternoon.

ALTHOUGH HE SHOWED HIS OLD TENDENCY TO ROLL HIS SHOULDERS FOR THE FIRST 30 YARDS, HIS SPEED AND STEADINESS OVER THE REST OF THE DISTANCE WERE | EXEMPLARY. THE TRACK WAS HEAVY AND A COLD WIND BLEW AGAINST HIM: HE IS OBVIOUSLY CAPABLE OF 9.8SEC. IF CONDITIONS ARE GOOD.

B. Greatbatch and E. A. R. Davies, winners of the other two heats in this race, were 4yds, and 6yds. slower than Pennington, and I should not be surprised to see H. R. G. Percy gain his half Blue as Pennington's second string in to-day's final.
