"Double Crossed," a jumper owned by John Hay Whitney, noted American sportsman, is one of the sixty horses which was entered in the famous English Grand National steeplechase, but which was sub- sequently withdrawn. -

London, Yesterday. The Grand National Steeple chase, which was run at Aintree. Liverpool, yesterday, before their Majesties the King and Queen, under wet conditions, provided a sensational result, Royal Mail, a 100 to 6 chance, winning by three lengths in 9 mins 59 1-5 secs. from Cooleen, hacked at 33 to 1, while 10 engths separated the latter from Puck-a-Belle, another 100 to 6 chance.

AND 29TH MARCH NEXT, THE MARCH RACE MEETING ARRANGED BY THE MACAU JOCKEY CLUB FOR SUNDAY SHOULD SERVE AS A PLEASANT VARIATION I EX- -PECT TO SEE A GOOD CROWD OF RACING - ENTHUSIASTS FROM. HONG KONG MAKING THE TRIP TO MACAU, AND THERE IS REASON TO HOPE THAT THE WEATHER ON SUNDAY WILL BE ALL THAT CAN BE. DESIRED.

There are seven events on the programme, one of which is specially reserved for our lady jockeys, and, with splendid entries. assured, visitors may be assured of spending a delightful-afternoon in the Portuguese colony.

The major portion of the events are confined to the subscrip tion griffins of the Macau Race Club, of which nothing much is known. Furthermore, it is difficult to obtain: information about the jockeys taking part.
