Rome, To-day, The Roman Catholic Church Has taken an important step with a view to establishing its authority in Eastern Africa.

A meeting of the Council of Cardinals has decided that all ter- ritory under Italian rule in East Africa is to be divided into five vicarates, whose frontiers will coincide with that of the Italian administrative districts and will be coordinated under a supreme Legateship.
