Conceding 15 lbs. over the
mile distance, Gordito was faced with no easy task and the fact that it was poorly positioned up
to the Rock did not help mat- ters any. Mr. Pih should have 10 secured a better position before. reaching the back straight. As it was he was only beaten by a short head after his mount had made a plucky last-minute effort another few yards and it would have been in front of Pagan the fact it was Love, despite passed 100 yards from the post. Coronation Day disappointed badly, securing only fourth place to Whalsey, which was very cap- ably handled by Mr. Gregory,
