YORKSHIRE SOCIETY'S

ANNUAL DINNER PRESIDENT'S TRIBUTE TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR

"The great characteristics of the Yorkshire- man are his capacity for getting things done, his courage and his refusal to admit defeat or being second best to anyone," said Mr. A. Brearley, President of the Society of Yorkshiremen in Hong Kong, in his presidential address at the annual cabaret dinner dance which was held at the Hong Kong Hotel last night.

A large attendance of members! and guests of the Society sat down to dinner, which was presented on the menu in characteristic York- shire style.

The Loyal Toast was proposed by His Excellency the Governor, Sir Andrew Caldecott.

Iterns of entertainment were fur- nished by Mr. J. Scott Harston, Mr. H H. Mundy and Mr. W. J. Geall.
