King's Coronation then con- tinued running merrily on and gave its owner his fifth win of the meeting.

Mr. L. Dunbar's Commencement Bay was a disappointment, but, as I have stated before, there is some- thing in this pony which has not been properly revealed, and it may take another few months hard training before it is developed. Red Feather did very well to beat: Rosemary.

The Old China Griffins In the absence of Liberty Bay, King's Warden monopolised atten- tion in the events confined to old- China Griffins. The long sequence of wins previously enjoyed by Mr. Dunbar in the Champion Stakes was broken when King's Warden withstood a challenge from Diana

for 1937.

S. A. Fowler, above, the Club right-winger, has secured his first Interport hockey honours and will be seen on the right wing of the Colony side against Macau next Sunday.

Amulette in mind, as I believe that further training will bring out the best in this pony.

THE only upset in the tennis at the Hong Kong C. C. yesterday afternoon, was the surprising defeat of G. Bodiker by H. Kwok. Bodiker start- ed off well, and won the first set fairly easily as the result of powerful driving on both hands. Kwok then found his touch, retrieved everything and combining a subtle variation in length, with an occasional net sortie, completely demoralised Bodiker who, in the last two sets, when he only won two games, could do nothing right.

THIS MATCH SERVED AS A VERY APT ILLUSTRATION THAT EVEN IN HONG KONG, TO BECOME A REALLY FIRST- CLASS TENNIS PLAYER, ONE MUST DEVELOP AN ALL- ROUND GAME. BODIKER IS COMPETENT TO INDULGE IN AGAINST A VARIATION OF LENGTH AND PACE AS EX-
