A sensational plot to free Georgyi Piatakoff, one of those sentenced to death in the Mos- com mass trial, before he faced the firing squad, has been re- vealed.
Piatakoff, a former assistant commissar for Heavy industries, had been confined in the famous Lubianka Prison.
In charge of the prison was Com- missar Voronkin, an old friend of his, whose arrest by G. P. U. agents" took place yesterday.
Voronkin is reported to have confessed that while Piatakoff was awaiting execution he hatched plot to rescue the condemned man.
