EARLY PEACE IN SHIPPING STRIKE

An early peace is in prospect in the maritime strike which! has held up Pacific shipping for several months.".

The unions oncrned in the strike are arranging an immediate ballot upon the terms of settlement ten-1 tatively agreed and it is expected that the returns will be through by Wednesday.

There is general belief that the ballot will result in a favourable! response and the employers age, in fact, tentatively planning to recom- mission their ships.

It is not unlikely, says Reuter's

Unusual Weather Yesterday

Unsual weather conditions for this time of the year were again marked yesterday. The tem- perature rose sharply from 62 degrees Fahrenheit ät ten în the morning to 73 in the after- noon and fell more sharply to- wards evening.
