It is just 23 years this month siace Orville Wright rose from a launching rail and flew for 12 sec- onds, landing safely at the end of that brief, history making aerial voyage without injury to himself or damage to his machine.
As an epitome of just over three! decades of aerial progress it is only necessary to contrast the first tiny plane of the Wright brothers) with one of the new giant air liners which Imperial Airways are now putting into service on their Empire routes.
This 1910 Wright pusher airplane, one of the oldest in active use, gave onlookers a thrill at the All-American air races in Miami when Pilot Clarence McArthur, sent it through, several loops.
