WINS THE DAY

CLOSE BADMINTON ENCOUNTER

(By "Adrem").

B Tong last night to see was one of the cent on to the ADMINTON enthusiasts who made the journey to Kowloon

Victoria Recreation Club by 5 sets to 4 received all the thrills promised. Some idea of the closeness of the game will be gauged from the fact that a start was made at 8.45 p.m. and the final set was not concluded until 11.45. Incidentally, when this sel was started, the score was 4-all.

Without wishing to detract from the merit of the swim- ming club's win. I think they were more than a little fortunate to secure the points. On two occasions they were within an ace of defeat, but with fine determination pulled up and scored ex- cellent victories.

The game started in a thrill- ing manner when the two first strings opened

(Kowloon Tong "A") three points to win the set.

Kowloon Tong won the next game, played between Lee and Castro and E. Soares and Barret- to, and after a ding-dong struggle j took the set to 17.

The third set was even more thrilling. Roza and Yeo led Silva and Easto, who played in the un avoidable absence of W. Lawrence, 20-16 with two services in hand! and to all intents and purposes had the game clinched. After be ing unfortunate with severall shots that just cleared the side- lines, the home pair then fell away, the game was setted, and

YACHTING RESULTS.

Nine years ago W. C. Hung, who now plays for the Kowloon Cricket Club, was the mainstay of the C.R.C., and it was chiefly due to his efforts that they were ablef to keep going in their last two, seasons. At that time he was one of the Colony's outstanding cric- keters and, fresh from a course ati the late Anbrey Faulkiner's school of cricket, he time and again astounded the local cricket world with his fine all-round feats.
