L.T.A. MAKE PRESENTATION TO BRITISH DAVIS CUP TEAM
MAX SCHMELING'S
LEGAL THREAT
“MUST HAVE FIRST SHOT AT BRADDOCK”
MA
FUTURE. PLANS IF HE WINS
New York, December 12.
AX SCHMELING has arrived here from Ger- many to make sure that nothing interferes with his promised fight with Braddock for the world's heavy-weight title next June.
•
Some of Schmeling's supporters have been concerned that the proposed Braddock-Louis fight at Atlantic City in February might intervene, but in view of the fact that Braddock has been demanding a £60.000 purse for such a bout it is unlikely that it will ever take place.
Schmeling declares that if necessary he will take legal action! to stop the bout. "I was promised first shot at Braddock," he said to-day. and I expect to get it." Concerning his own plans if he recaptures the title. Schmeling said he would willingly de- fend the championship in America, but he would vigorously ob- ject to any cash forfeit to cover his promise.
