PENINSULA HOTEL FUNCTION
Rizal Day, the 40th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Ri zal, was celebrated in customary manner by the local Filipino com- munity at the Peninsula Hotel and yesterday, when a luncheon dance were held. The gathering was presided over by Mr. R. Basa and a large number of people at- tended.

Mr. R. S. Castro, the Hon. Se cretary of the Filipino Club, said the anniversary of the death the great martyr actually fell.o: December 30, but the celebrations had been postponed in order t secure a larger attendance.
