KING'S LEAD'S BID FOR ST. ANDREW'S CUP
MR. L. R. RALPH'S RETURN
(By "RAPIER”)
THE Twelfth Extra Race Meeting, to be held at the V aur
morrow, will bring the local racing season under the aus- pices of the Hong Kong Jockey Club nearer to a close, and this penultimate meeting will be marked by quite an interesting programme of eight events, the most attractive of which will be the race for the St. Andrew's Stakes. There should be ex- tremely keen competition among the owners, and jockeys as well, to have the honour of carrying off the coveted Cup, which is- presented by The St. Andrew's Society.
Up to the present, the weather has been exceptionally kind for race meetings since the commencement of the second half, and to-morrow should not be an exception to the rule. I expect to see racing again being conducted under ideal conditions and, with the track in such splendid condition, there is every reason to anticipate fast times being recorded. I hope that the meet- ing to-morrow will be favoured by a much larger attendance of racing enthusiasts.
י.
After an absence from several meetings, Mr. L. P. Rainb will again don colours to-morrow. It will be recalled that Mr. Ralph met with a severe accident while taking part in a Steeple- chase at Kwanti in the early part of the year. He has now fully recovered, however, and I feel sure that the racing public wit extend to him a warm welcome on his return to riding.
