Previously Oundle had been the i first school to win at Uppingham. for sixteen years, and now look as if they will go through the term unbeaten.
Oundie's great success coincides, with the departure for India. Ixa the near future of the best foot-| baller they have turned out, E. C.) Fyfe, the Cambridge and Scotland captain.

MAXIE BAER TO MEET TWO "TOUGH BABIES”
Starting Serious Training At. Once
London, November 18-It was announced on October 28, that Maxie Baer, former heavy-weight champion of the world, is to re- ceive £4,500, free of tax, and transportation for four for his Sight with either Foord or Neusel at Harringay in February. Baer has called off his proposed fight with Maurice Strickland, the New Zealand champion, which was to have taken place at the Chicago Stadium, and he has decided to return home to Livermore (Cali- formis).
He says he must start serious work at once as he realises that both Foord and Nansal are "tough babies" According to an Ameri- can journal, Baer lost a six round bout against Willie Davies, at Flataville (Wisconsin), on Octo- ber 3. Six days later Joe Louis imocked out Davis in three rounds.

LANGLEY'S PUTTING BLUNDER
London, November 2.
CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY suffered their
first golf reverse of the term on Saturday when they were beaten by a strong League side on the Royal Worlington and Newmarket Club's course, near-Mildenhall, by 12% points to 31.
In spite of heavy rain there was some good golf. Cyril Tolley, the amateur ex-champion, played remarkably well in the singles, and did the first nine holes in 33, although taking five. shots at one hole. He turned seven up on P. B. Lucas, the Cam- bridge captain, and won easily by 7 and 6.
Lucas and J. D. A. Langley, a member of this year's Walk- jer Cup team, were narrowly beaten by Tolley and G. A. Hill, an- other British international, in the top foursome. They lost the last hole, and the match, by putting three balls out of bounds.
Christian de G Watermeyer,
the South African, and-Lang-1 ley also failed in the singles. Watermeyer lost by 5 and 4 to Hill, and Langley was beaten on the last green by Leonard Crawley, the former English champion
