JAPAN'S REAL ATTITUDE IN SUIYUAN SOUGHT SPECIAL CHINESE INVESTIGATORS TO MAKE ENQUIRIES
(From A Special Correspondent)
Canton, To-day.
It is stated in well-informed circles that the Chinese Gov ernment will temporarily suspend the negotiations on the Sino- Japanese relations, until the Japanese Government shows its real attitude towards the Saiyuan situation. Rumours are current in foreign circles that the eighth meeting between Mr. Chang Chun, the Chinese Minister, and Mr. S. Kawagoe, the Japanese Ambas- sador to China, will be held on Monday next, but this is not con- firmed by Chinesc official circles.
Mr. Tuan Mao-lan, Secretary to the Chinese Foreign Minis- ter, will fly to Peiping to-day and there he will meet Mr. Ko Chung-mu. Director of Asia Bureau of the Chinese Foreign Minis- try, who already left Nanking by train early this morning. It is reliably learned that Messrs. Ko and Tuan have been appointed. special delegates to investigate the question of whether the inva- sion of Suiyuan Province by the Manchuria-Mongolian bandits is actually supported by the Japanese authorities or not. They will go to Saiyuan together from Peiping by the Peiping-Suiyuan | Railway.

2,000 FRENCH SOCIALISTS ARRIVE TO FIGHT FOR REDS
Madrid, To-day.
There was reduced military activitiy round the capital yes- |terday, largely owing to the bad weather. The spasmodic fight- ing in the vicinity of the model prison was mostly confined to rifle and machine-gun fire and occasional artillery salvoes. There was no appreciable change in the military position, and no air raids. A message from Avila states that snowstorms are raging to the north of Madrid in the Guadarama Mountains and around Es- corial and the Gredos Mountains. The snow is 20 inches deep in some places, and the operations have been temporarily upheld. According to a message from Barcelona the Prado Museum at Madrid was bombed and set on fire by incendiary hotabs dropped by insurgent aeroplanes, according to an "announcement by the Generalitat. — Reuter.
