TWO GOOD SOCCER TIES FOR TO-DAY
MOSS INJURED AND IN HOSPITAL
(By "Referee")
THERE are two interesting matches in the First Division of the Football League down for decision this afternoon, the clash between the much strengthened Navy team and the Fusiliers being the outstanding tie, while Recreio will entertain the Police in what should also pro- duce a stern struggle.
The Police will be without the services of Moss, who is at Port of Glasgow in 1914 and is a present in hospital with an injured foot, and Brooks will be seen cousin of Drysdale, the Glasgor in his stead on the left-wing, while Willerton, from the junior

GREAT FUTURE FOR D. B. PELL
(By J. E. Lovelock)
London, September 30.
T seems a good time to give a brief review of the past track season in England, stressing not only those who have justified their places among the very best that the country has pro- duced, but also making some mention of those runners in such events as the Public Schools and Junior AAA Championships who show promise of one day stepping into the places of our present champions.
In the sprints our three outstanding men were our Olympic. representatives, A. W. Sweeney, C. B. Holmes and A. Penning- ton. Their consistency throughout was admizable, but on their Olympic form they are scarcely yet up to the highest inter- national standing. It may seem invidious to attempt to separate them, but one cannot help feeling that Sweeney is the strongest, mest consistent, and consequently the most formidable.
Holmes, with more training along the right lines, could be at least his equal; while Pennington, in spite of his apparent frailty and greater length of leg, leading to slower starting, has (By "STICKS")
the greatest potentialities, particularly over the furlong distance. N exciting ladies' hockey match should be witnessed this Same day he will be a very great quarter-miler!
