M. DELBOS CLOSELY QUESTIONED ON FRANCE'S ATTITUDE
Rabat, To-day. Statements alleging dissension among the Government lead- ers in Madrid have been broadcast from Radio Seville. It is stated that violent arguments are proceeding between Senor Largo Caballern, the Premier, who wants to defend the capital, and Senor Prieto, who wishes to retreat.
It is announced that considerable nervousness prevails in the capital. The population is staging demonstrations each time the routed Militiamen arrive back in the city. The wireless station added that the impression is that the end of Madrid is very near. Afterwards the resistance will be transferred to Catalonia, which. will pay with its ruin for the liberties granted to it by Madrid.
Paris: Questioned at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Com mittee of the Chamber with regard to France's position if Rus sia withdrew from the non-intervention committee, the Foreign Minister, M. Delbos, said that the Franco-Soviet Pact became operative only if Russian territory were attacked, and at present, there was no question of that. He pointed out that the Pact was within the framework of the League, and any question of aggres- |sion would have to be thrashed out,
