London, August 27. THERE is general talk at home among League football clubs of a restoration of a line of at- tacking forwards. Last season Sunderland deli- berately boycotted the fashionable three-backs system and went all out for goals, a policy which rave them the championship. True Sunderland found occasionally that with eight men up in at- tack a breakaway against them often spelt dan- ger, but they did not mind us they were scoring more themselves.

The boast that professional football is the best governed and the most strin- gently regulated of all sports will not lose its point because of the necessary change of president.
