Negotiations are under way between the responsible authorities for the merging of two Chinese airlines, namely, the China National Aviation Corporation and the South-west Aviation Corporation, states the Ta Kung Peo.

The air display at Le Bourget recently and the flight over Paris last month of 222 aeroplanes of the latest type were admittedly intended to re- assure the public that the corntry's air defence is being closely watched.

Trial flights are to be carried out this summer of the new twin-engined German fying- boat, D.0.18, built to cross the North Atlantic to America.
It is hoped to inaugurate a regular German air-mail ser- vice via the North Atlantic next year.
