The British Government has been in touch with the United States Government with regard to the general problem of smuggling in North China, states Lord Cranborne, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in a written reply to Sir J. S Wardlaw-Milne (C., Kidderminster).

He also states that it is understood that representations have been made by the United States Government to Japan with re- gard to smuggling on similar lines to those made by the British Government, and a reply similar to that received by the British Ambassador on May 4 and outlined in an answer given in the House of Commons on May 20 has been sent.
