Behind a recent announcement! in the personal columns of The Daily Telegraph lies a strange story. It concerns a young man -of French parentage who is trying] to establish his legal existence by -discovering someone who can give evidence concerning his birth in London before the war.

Early in 1914 a Frenchman and his wife came to Londer on a visit. They stayed at a small hotelj in Leicester-place, on the, north side of Leicester-square, then known as the Hotel de Paris It! has since disappeared,
