GAME ABANDONED AS
PROTEST
COMPLAINT AGAINST H.K.F.C. GREEN
A
sensation was caused in lawn bowls circles last evening when, with the scores at 16 shots-all on the 19th head of their Open Singles championship encounter on the Hong Kong Football Club green, F. J. Jones (C.S.C.C.) and A Hyde Lay, (K.CC.) after appealing to the um- pire, Mr. R. P. Phillips, agreed to abandon the game as a protest against the green.
The rinks were laid out with ends facing the Civil Service Cricket Club and the Football Club pavilion and not, as on days when League matches are played, with ends facing the Race Course and the Craigengower Cricket Club. "
Jones drew first blood when he scored a single and a three: on the first two heads and after Hyde-Lay had scored on the next head, Jone's score mounted steadily, including a three on! the seventh end, to lead 3-4 on the eighth head. From this) point onward; however. Hyde-Lay began to close in on his op- | ponent, and with a three on the 11th head, forged ahead to
lead 10-8.

LOCAL GOALKEEPERS IN LIMELIGHT COMPLEMENT'S NEW ITINERARY
THE outstanding feature of the All-China Olympic football teams display against the Sourabaya Interport side whom they defeated 3-1 and the Malang side whom they beat by a solitary goal, was the brilliant goalkeeping of Wong Wing and Pau Ka-ping, respectively, who re- peatedly saved their charges in daring manner.
Against the Sourabaya Interport eleven, the All-China visitors found themselves up against a fast-moving team with a stout- hearted defence.
